The Staff Accountant in the mortgage division is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily accounting functions related to mortgage loan transactions and financial reporting. This role involves preparing accurate financial records, managing account reconciliations, supporting financial audits, and ensuring compliance with mortgage-specific accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The Staff Accountant will also assist with month-end closing processes, financial analysis, and contribute to process improvements within the accounting team.

Responsibilities

  • Support accounts payable process by reviewing and inputting vendor information and invoices.
  • Perform assigned monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare assigned general ledger entries including but not limited to allocations, prepaids, and accruals.
  • Assist with providing support during internal and external audits, compliance reporting, and tax filing
  • Manage the company’s prepaid and expenses associated with the employee Awardco program
  • Responsible for T&E (Expensify) coding and accruals
  • Deposit checks into bank and confirm proper recording into ledger

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience  
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting required
  • Strong excel skills
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting
  • Accounting software experience with AR, AP & GL and expense reimbursement
